E3 – Employment First.  Employment Ready.  Employment for All.

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month, a time to advocate for inclusive hiring practices and educate employers on the benefits of hiring people with disabilities. Community Living London’s Employment Services is excited to be launching the E3 program during Disability Employment Awareness Month! Employment Services assist people with disabilities to find meaningful employment, and works collaboratively with employers to hire and train employees with disabilities.

E3 is an exciting new “Employment Transition Initiative” pre-employment training program for job seekers with developmental disabilities.

The goal of the program is to increase job preparedness through the delivery of flexible pre-employment training. This will target those on the Developmental Services Ontario wait list and offer an enhanced job readiness program in the interim.

Eventually participation in the program could open up to other job seekers with a disability from other referral sources including CLL internal, ODSP, TVDSB and LDCSB.

The training specifically targets 5 Core Competencies:

  • Personal Growth and Development
  • Social Skills
  • Today’s Workplaces
  • Preparing for Employment
  • Life Skills

In order to deliver a flexible curriculum we have used a wide range of styles to convey information.  These include:

  • Powerpoint presentations
  • Participant Handbooks
  • Group and individual Quizzes
  • Open discussions and hands on experience

Our staffing model offers a minimum of 1:6 staff to job seeker ratio.  This will be at a level of 1:3 with volunteer/additional staff involvement.

There will be 24 workshops available that job seekers can select according to their individual needs.  These workshops will be delivered onsite at Employment Services 379 Dundas Street Suite #120.  Workshops will be 2 hours in duration and run from 9:30 am until 11:30 am and1-3pm daily Monday to Friday.

The soft launch commencing September 24th is a trial run presenting workshops internally at CLL locations as well as with community partners.  The official launch date is November 2018.

E3 program will increase employability  for people with  disabilities, giving them the confidence and skills they need to secure a job.
