Type of Service:
Family Support provides advocacy and information about local services for children with a developmental disability. The Family Support Worker, along with the family or caregiver, will develop an action plan specifically focused on the needs of the child and their family.
How Does Family Support Work?
Our Family Support Workers assist families to learn about education, funding sources, future planning, parenting programs and support groups, respite programs and community supports. The Family Support program assists families to navigate through the developmental service system, providing support and advocacy along the way.
What Are the Benefits of Family Support?
Family Support offers a coordinated access point to guide you through the “system”. Our helpful and knowledgeable Family Support Workers are qualified to offer advice based on individual family needs.
Our Family Support Workers connect regularly with other professionals in the community such as teachers, early childhood educators and clinical program providers. As members of these strong community networks including the Family Support Workers of Ontario our Family Support Workers are always up to date on current funding initiatives, changes in legislation and other issues in the developmental services sector.
