Alyssa’s Story

     There is nothing more beautiful than a smile of pure happiness especially on the face of your child, and Diane is no stranger to this feeling. Her daughter, Alyssa, who is Autistic and non-verbal, has been supported through Community Living London’s programs since she was 8 years old. Jim’s Story

This story is on a supported staff member here at Community Living London, Jim. Jim was recently gifted with a beautiful watch for his 5 years of exceptional service with Community Living London. Prior to his employment, Jim graced Community Living London with his time as a volunteer. While Jim still volunteers, our office is now lucky enough to have Jim around to stuff envelopes, prepare pay stubs, shred paper, take care of faxes, and keep us updated on all the Blue Jay’s latest baseball games! Ken’s Story

Life is full of ups and downs. The only thing constant in life is change itself. Many times, change can is a direct result of a difficult loss. While these moments can be challenging, it’s the support we receive from those around us that helps us get through the most difficult of times. Debbie’s Story

Early in Life, Debbie was able to communicate easily. As Debbie aged she started to lose her communication skills, which was later attributed to a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. It wasn’t long before the disease took away her ability to verbally communicate altogether and it was around that time, that people began to notice a change in Debbie’s behavior and mood. Tara’s Story

Tara is a very active, caring person who loves all of life’s adventures. Tara has Down syndrome which is a chromosomal disorder occurring in 1 out of 900 births in Canada. Children with Down syndrome often develop at a slower pace than other children and usually require continuing support as adults. Tara first became connected with Community Living London when she was 20 years old and her family was going through a difficult time. Robin’s Story

Thanks to the London Community Foundation the Ford Access Centre now has a new wheelchair accessible van. This van helps transport more than 200 people with intellectual disabilities to community activities in the London area. For many people, this van means everything. Robin Harris is one person who depends on the Ford Access Centre van. Robin has Cerebral Palsy, and relies on the wheelchair for mobility.
